• Initial Translation – The primary translator for your project works directly from your original text. He or she is always fluent in the source language and a native speaker of the target language, with specific training, experience, and knowledge of the subject matter to be translated. These qualifications are require to translate the material accurately and to reflect the tone and meaning of your original material. Native-speaking abilities are especially crucial in the translation of industry specific technical terms, metaphorical language and idiomatic expressions. Only a native speaker with appropriate subject matter expertise can properly convey these in the target language.
• Review & Editing – For each project, a second translator, with the same skills and native-speaking abilities, reviews the initial translation against the source documents. During the review, the secondary translator may suggest improvements to the initial translation. Your assigned ILS project manager will resolve any discrepancies that arise. This review and edit is a cooperative process, always working toward the goal of providing the most effective translation possible. This review and editing process also includes detailed proofreading to ensure correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Formatting – To return files to you in the same format received, your project will be formatted by our professional multilingual formatters. Using your source files, ILS will deliver a finished document that matches the original as closely as possible and fits your specifications. Due to differences in languages, this may require additional editing of the content or alteration of the format to fit the available space or to adjust other factors. Once this formatting process is complete, the document will once again be thoroughly reviewed for correctness.
• Client Review – The completed project is returned to you, ready for your immediate use. Should your in-country resources suggest changes, we will evaluate their suggestions and update your files as needed.
